Crafting Tinctures & Tangents: Our Community Lion’s Mane Tincture Journey

Over the past few months, the FungALL community has been on quite an adventure — one that began with tiny spores and ended with bottles of beautifully crafted lion’s mane tincture. What started as a simple workshop became a mammoth journey, guiding us through every stage of the fungi lifecycle: spores to mycelium, mycelium to mushrooms, and mushrooms to tinctures. And along the way, we harvested far more than lion’s mane… we also cultivated new friendships, laughter, and plenty of memorable moments.

Creative Chaos: Where Our Labels Come to Life

One of the unexpected highlights of the workshop was our collaborative label-making session. What started as a simple design activity quickly turned into a whirlwind of creativity, tangents, storytelling, and shared imagination. The result? A collection of delightfully eccentric labels — including the now-iconic lion in a Quaker hat with a hedgehog on his back, lovingly known as Moyles Mane.

And here’s the exciting bit: we realised that this is exactly what makes FungALL unique. The playful, community-driven creativity that shaped these labels is something we want to champion across all our products. Going forward, each new FungALL creation will carry a piece of this collective imagination… a reminder that our work is rooted not only in sustainability and science, but in joy, humour, and shared expression.

Expect future products to come with their own stories, inside jokes, and artistic fingerprints from the communities who helped make them. Because art doesn’t always need an explanation… Sometimes it just needs a good tangent.

A Celebration to Remember

To round it all off, we celebrated in true community fashion: with gigantic pizzas, a couple of pints, and plenty of smiles at the Carlton Club, who kindly hosted our experiments and provided a home for our fungal adventures.

A massive thank you to everyone who took part, supported the sessions, shared ideas, or simply brought good energy into the room. You helped make this workshop not just productive, but properly fun-filled.

What’s Next for FungALL?

The momentum hasn’t stopped. In fact, the community has already dived into their next chapter: Cordyceps tincture workshops. This ones is being led by Matty and Ele — two previous participants who enjoyed the lion’s mane journey so much that they’ve now joined the FungALL team to help bring more workshops, more creativity, and more fungi magic to the community. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have them on board.
